Hip Thrusts are an awesome exercise you can do at home or in the gym to build up the strength in your GLUTES and HAMSTRINGS and one I've seen more and more young cats cranking out with seeeeerious weights on (100kg+) so thought I’d add into my leg day programme and my word it hits the spot.
Some key considerations if you fancy trying yourself:
☑️ Make sure you can control movement effectively with just body weight BEFORE you start loading up a big metal bar.
☑️ Use a pad to cushion your hips and a soft bench or mats like mine to support your back as you lift
☑️ The target muscles are GLUTES which are incredibly strong when firing up appropriately so don’t be surprised when your weights increase considerably over time. If you can do 10-15 reps comfortably then add more!
Want to replicate at home?
Try this workout from our recent 4 week Get Strong Programme and try to on your sofa at home with some dumbbells..
Let me know how you get on. I’m off to massage my butt cheeks to recover now...
