Can Lifting Heavy Weights Really Help Weight Loss?

It goes against everything logic tells you should happen but it's true lifting heavier weights can help you lose body weight and in my experience working with 5,000+ clients over 15 years + Personal Training I'd go as far to say as it can have THE BEST results, certainly for long term sustainable results.


Summary Of How Weight Training Helps Weight Loss:


  • Weight Training helps burn extra calories both during workouts AND afterwards even while we sleep!


  • Building muscle strength will elevate your metabolism which means you can get away with eating more food than if you didn't!


  • The stronger you are the easier it is to move your body freely and pretty quickly you'll notice your activity levels across the week will increase and going for walks, playing with kids, running, shopping etc all become far more enjoyable - with a side benefit of burning more energy too!


  • Learning to lift heavy weights is AMAZING for your mental health and when you're trying to lose weight your mindset is going to be the key to success. If you feel good you'll keep going ;)


In short, I am a HUGE fan of weight training personally and have seen the true impact it can have on clients of all ages from teenagers to pensioners and everyone in between.

Mounting scientific evidence concludes that resistance exercise has unique benefits for fat loss. They also underscore how extensive and interconnected the internal effects of exercise can be.
