High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) has become one of the worlds most popular forms of exercise and often cited as the "best way to lose weight" but is this really true? Here's my two cents...
Facts About HIIT:
✅ You can lose weight doing HIIT daily.
✅ You can lose weight doing HIIT occasionally.
✅ You can lose weight NOT doing HIIT, ever.
Why has the world gone mad for HIIT?
⌛ Workouts Are Shorter (under 30 mins)
🏠 You can do HIIT at home without any equipment
🥵 Feels like a "proper" workout with sweat in all the right places (sometimes the wrong ones too lol)
Potential Cons of HIIT:
🦵 Not all knees and hips enjoy jumping about every day
🤮 Pushing ourselves this hard with exercise isn't for everyone
👨🎓 Not a great option for Beginners getting started with exercise
Key Factors For Weight Loss:
🥗 What You Eat
🛏️ How You Sleep
👣 Your Daily Movement (away from workouts!)
So if weight loss is your goal right now then focus your energy on these factors instead and it'll bring you far better results with a lot less pain too - YES YOU CAN LOSE WEIGHT WITHOUT DOING A SINGLE BURPEE EVER, WOOHOO!
Want to do HIIT?
HIIT is a great way to boost your cardiovascular fitness in a quick, effective workout that you can follow anywhere, anytime with no equipment required.
Just be aware that HIIT is an ADVANCED WORKOUT 🌶️🌶️🌶️ that should only be attempted if you are already experienced with exercise and have knees and hips that can handle high impact movements like jumping and squatting.
Need a lower impact option?
Try my Low Impact Interval Training (LIIT) programme instead...
All the benefits of interval training but without the jumping and/or dreaded burpee - haha can you tell I'm not a huge fan lol.
